Bill Description: This bill would strengthen existing state law to create an agency tasked with the protection and care of domesticated animals and their sale to consumers. The effect of this law would be to expand protections for birds, mammals, and reptiles that are sold within the state or that are imported or exported from the state. A license or permit would be required in order to sell these animals at pet stores.

Officials to confiscate animals from embattled Ohio exotic animal owner
Akron, OH — Born Free USA united with Animal Protection Institute (Born Free USA) is applauding a Summit County judge’s order to confiscate existing exotic wild animals being kept in deplorable conditions by Lorenza Pearson, owner of L&L Exotics Animal Farm (L&L Exotics) in Copley Township, OH. Judge Judy Hunter also permanently banned Pearson from possessing exotic animals and declared his property a public nuisance.
